So many high-end basses for sale at the moment so I thought I'd chime in. Never thought I'd do this but just like the Warwick Thumb (which I might put up for sale again) I just don't play "Sandy" anymore and it's literally gathering dust.
Little bit of history on this one.
Purchased in August 1992 in a small music store in Tübingen, Germany (look it up, nice place). They had two 4-strings and two 5 strings, and this was "the one". Sounded quite different, very snappy and clean.
Only owner, everything except for strings and battery is original.
Played this quite extensively in the mid-to late-90s due to its versatility in a cover band environment. Then occasionally in Slingshot - here's a rare example of me actually playing (2011 - a long time ago):
Then again in another cover band in the early 2010s when I switched exclusively to 5-string.
There's some wear and tear, couple of dints as you would expect - more pics later.
34" neck-through, multi-laminate maple with (I think) rosewood board;
Schaller hardware with in-house turned knobs;
proprietary pre which (according to Holger, Mr. Sandberg himself, has some sort of enhancer circuitry);
no idea what the weight is (not heavy) but will find out tonight.
Played by Holger himself
(but he couldn't have it) and now signed by Holger and Ida Nielsen (pic of that tonight).
OK, price. I'm thinking $4,000.00. Plus shipping unless there's a local (Melbourne) sale.
