Diago Twistlock Strap Buttons

Post by BazzBass » 14 Jan 2019, 14:56

OK, I've tried straplocks, the fact I needed to check that the nut is secured on the strap kinda defeats the purpose.

Tried the Grolsch washers, they bind the strap to the pin and causes it to twist against the screw back and forth working it loose.

These Diago oversized strap pins are the best solution I've found. Easy to slip the strap on and off, IF YOU WANT TO. Won't work loose on it's own.

Name edited, just in case.

Wasn't having a go Bazz. Was just wondering what's with them. Thought they'd closed down or moved, but they're still there. Even if they are shutting down, I figure from their minimal stock, it's taking them years to do it.
If you still happen to have the express envelope your straplocks should have come in, maybe you can claim the postage from Aust Post.

only the sender can query or claim from them. I've asked to seller to give me free standard postage and I'll buy two more off him. Otherwise I can get em from NZ.

I've used the shaller type for 20 years. The trick is to put a drop of threadlock on the nut. Works like a charm.

sorry, twistlocks do away with the need for a strap lock system. No moving parts, works with any strap without needing to attach anything. No threadlock needed. Foolproof. Grab any strap and instantly have it locked onto your bass.

the seller and I have resolved our differences and all is good in the world again :)

As far as I can see, he is the only one in Oz selling these. Net searches found no other sellers, weird, unless they are out of stock everywhere else.
Currently on special for $15 a set.

Well if you can't get your hands on them, they would be quite simple to make...

Actually I was thinking a stainless panel washer and a short length of stainless tube or a bushing. But you are right, if you know a fitter and turner, he /she would knock these out quick smart. I doubt a hobby 3d printer would cut it, both for looks/finishing and durability. But industrial 3d printers can use hard engineering resins, plus can print to a very fine tolerance.

I like supporting clever engineering, as an engineering dropout myself, I like clever solutions.
For $60 I've got all 4 of my electric basses covered. I consider it a bargain compared to other solutions. And it really is quick to swap straps, well swap basses onto my good strap.

I doubt I'll change all my basses and straps over, because I have schaller ones on everything, but yeah, simple designs like this really appeal to me. It shows a great understanding of design anthropology as well. I hope the guy can afford to patent it...
