Cricket 2018-19

Post by Petebass » 06 Dec 2018, 11:51

Welcome to the new era, cricket on Ch7 instead of 9.

OK I finally get my answer about live streaming. Ch7 may be free to air but the ch7 app was showing Border Security International when play started today in the 1st test. CA app and website take you to the Kayo site, $25/month. So we've gone from $30 for 12 months last year to $300 for 12 months this year! What's that as a percentage, 1,000% increase!!!!!!!

OK back to the cricket. India won the toss, elected to bat, and are currently 4-49. Great bowling by the Aussies this morning. All 4 wickets from enticing the batsmen to come on to the front foot and play at balls they shouldn't have. Great length bowling, 4 edges, 4 catches. Great stuff so far!

Foxtel has every match included, no breaks during play. The British commentary can be a bit dull compared to Aussie commentators. Gillie and Warne tell cracker stories.

4/49 sounds more like a T20 score. ;)

Well I'm currently engaged in banter with an Indian friend who is adamant the Indian test players aren't affected by t20. But India are in trouble at 4-50 and there's been TWO sixes hit! TWO!!! Why are they trying to hit sixes at this state of the game? IMO the inability to overcome the urge is a direct t20 by-product!

Good grief, go and watch Rhoit's wicket. Better still, watch the ball before, then watch the wicket ball. Exactly what I was just talking about ......................

My son just got home from today's school cricket match - he's in Year 7, and plays in the Year 8 Open team in the Metropolitan Catholic School comp. Opened the batting in a T20 game today and was 90 not out off 45 balls.

Finch is not a test opener, plain and simple. He's just keeping Warner's spot warm because he can also score a run a ball. Why we need that in a test team is beyond me.

Young Marcus Harris looked good out there. Nice technique, calm, good shot selection. I'll give him a pass mark and would like to see more of him.

see ya Shaun !

shame you only got 22 last chances, while others got ONE match or none.

Even if you make a ton in the second dig, as Chappelli says, first innings runs are worth more.

I was busy all day yesterday. When I logged in to check the score, India were doing well and Starc had only bowled half as many overs as Hazelwood. What's going on there? Is Starc injured?

he was under an injury cloud coming in to this test but we are so desperate we played him anyway.

About the streaming service, Pete, KAYO is all of foxsports without needing to add docos or other packages. I'm gonna dump fox now and go kayo. You can watch on 2 devices, so go halves with a mate, that's what I do with Fox Now, I sub-let it hehe

Hmm.....................................people are going to bag Usman for his second innings dismissal shot and being tentative in the first innings. AB started it today on the radio, saying he was disappointed. AB.....that is what can happen when you are the only truly test quality batsman in the side. Doubt me?.......have a look at the scores at the fall of the fourth wicket since Durban.

This match tells us something.
Smith and Warner (as skipper and vice) let the team down big time. Not just on that day but going forward because they did not think about what was required of them in those roles........leadership.

Their lack of thought and leadership robbed us of two test quality top order batsmen (not three.....at this stage Bancroft who ?) I am now even more convinced. Smith and Warner should never hold leadership roles in Australian cricket again........EVER.

They should also be made compile runs at lower levels BEFORE they are selected for Australia again. Veebass is disgusted all over again.
Happiness is .......a Telebass and 500W.

Yes, I'm going to bag Usman Khawaja... Meh... One of the most over-rated batsman in the team (there's a few of them). He's too nervous and always has been. He just pokes at the ball trying to stay in rather than relaxing into it. He struggles to even score a single to get himself off strike. The commentators were saying how chilled he is haha. But behind that cool facade and those doe eyes, I see one stressed out man.

He's good on the field, but that's where his talent stops. I doubt India are worried by his presence at all - certainly not while he's holding a bat.

I hate to say it but, I'd be putting my money on India for this series.

why shouldn't Usman be criticised? coz he is from NSW and must always play?

Plenty of better batsmen still haven't had their chance. Look outside NSW ffs

as Skull said "when I got my first baggy Blue cap for NSW it came with a baggy green too "
