all my basses are drop B (B/F#/B/E) or lower. (4 strings i mean)
i now 3-4 5 strings as well, and all my basses use exactly the same string sets, I just discard the G string on the 4 strings.
Ive done BEAD, Drop A, F# standard (On a 35" scale), and now they're either in Drop B or A# standard.
I personally think you need to use 5 string sets to retain the string tension, the 4 string sets were to loose for me, and they were using a .110 set.
I use .135/.105/.85/,75, but i have done it with .130's are well.
I play in a very heavy hardcore band, so it suits my purpose. I also have a couple of Ibanez 5's that have very thin necks, but I still prefer using my fender J's or my LTD P's.
Just my $0.02.

I was thinking the exact same thing as I was carving 100+yo, recycled elephant recently.
Broken'n'wrong...

Bassline "I'm not arguing.... I'm just explaining why I'm right."
