Hey peeps!
Just wanted to share the latest interview from my Player Profile series which features one of the funkiest players around, Mr. Cornell Williams, bassist for Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentlemen. Anyone who has seen JC and Co. can attest to the deep pocket that Nell has, not to mention his vocal skills! It was a real pleasure to hang out with Cornell and talk about his bass journey, New Orleans and even get to hear him break down some of his basslines and play a blues solo!
It still seems that a lot of people are aware of the video interviews but didn't know that you can also digest these interviews in an audio only podcast format?

Look forward to listening to this.
I first heard Jon Cleary play with Bonnie Raitt 10 years ago at Byron Bluesfest so I've been waiting since then to hear Cornell with the Absolute Monster Gentlemen. I finally saw them at Mullum Music Festival last year so I introduced myself to him after their gig and chatted a bit. Very humble fella and happy to hear from a long time fan :-)

Great interview Craig, with a great player who always "plays for the song".
Love that Modulus bass. Interesting that he swapped out the pickups and pre to an Aguilar set. How does it compare soundwise to your F bass?

The modulus is a completely different beast to the F Bass. It has a very present, thick and glassy tone, super low action and very responsive but quite compressed sounding. The F Bass is much more open and organic, less compressed and a bit more growl. Cornell was really taken with my VF5, I wasn't sure he was going to give me it back haha!
thanks for watching
