IF you were going to record guitars with hot pickups, you should get a Gen 2 unit, or use a DI with attenuation perhaps, otherwise not much else different between Gens 1 and 2.

I dunno, a 2i2 is far more versatile.......

It's the exact same size, except the solo only has one mic pre and only has one instrument in, the 2i2 has two combi inputs.

All dependent on the OPs needs, but the 2i2 allows adding stereo keys,e drums etc later.

Just checked. Solo is smaller. Also reports of early 2i2s clipping instruments.

Gen 1 solos too, same preamps and gain structures. Only an issue with very hot pickups and frankly a $20 DI with attenuation would fix that. That's why I said to go Gen 2 IF recording guitars with very hot pickups.

Smaller by what 5 or 10mm? Hardly meaning the 2i2 is so much bigger it's not an option though hehe

A touch over 30mm or the space to put a mic if you’re space tight. Almost double the price too.

Good idea to avoid all the early ones then. Thanks for the pointers.
