Here's what I'm chasing (mentioned in my PJ thread, but another example):
That was you! I knew I read it somewhere but forgot ask what song it was because I was attacking in Clash of Clans  and lost where it is, was that the thread with the Skull knobs?

That's the first time I've heard that Cake song :ninja: , and dang! The bassline's awesome!
If you liked that one, get a hold of their Fashion Nugget album - it's full of fantastic basslines

Seth Lover Humbucker Telecaster Bass in the clip- sounds like it could be it on the recording too.
They can be hard to control in a live situation.
How do you mean, hard to control?
Those wide range bass humbuckers are incredibly powerful- I think something 25K impedance from memory.
Happiness is .......a Telebass and 500W.

The positioning of them is very Gibson. Mountains of bottom end and lower mids.

that vulfpeck bassist is phenomenal.
Without doubt! you should watch their live version of this song.

Everyone singing along with the bassline, isn't that any bass player's dream.

I've been chasing the Hadrien Feraud / Evan Marien 'Smith' tone for years.
You'd think owning the same Walnut Ken Smith Burner as Evan would get me close, but it doesn't feel like it. (My Burner came with aftermarket Bartolini's. I put Bill Lawrence J945s and an Aggie OPB-3 in it, but the lack of the original pickups will haunt me forever.)

First two examples are pretty exposed - 3rd one is more 'bassline' and in a band context.
