Tube Tone Compression (TTC) pedal TOUR OF DUTY THREAD

Post by BassLine » 04 Mar 2015, 06:31

Good point - too much compression can overdo it. I found the same already having tube compression on my tube amp too.

Maybe the market for the TTC is more towards beefing up Solid State amps or running it direct (live with DI, studio, etc).

Don't be too quick to get to me (#10), I won't be back in AUS until the end of April.

Yep, I got it. Sorry, haven't been logging much forum time lately. I prob should have posted up here earlier.
Unfortunately the pedal has arrived with the worst possible timing - last week of the fringe so I basically haven't been home at all. The drummer for both my bands is out of town too so haven't had a gig or practice.
Tonight I'm having a song writing session with the guitarists so I'll put it through its paces. Then hopefully can record a little demo tomorrow as I just got my recording pre back from a mate. I'll be in contact with bazz to move it on soon...

Hey mate, skip me on this one, I have since purchased a compressor so won't be needing to try this one out after all.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

OK, Rocksolid is sitting this one out too so the TTC will be in the post to Rod tomorrow.

I finally got around to doing a demo/review thingy so here it is. I don't have a video camera so it's purely audio :D

http://soundcloud.com/bloodmason/ttc-demo

Thanks to Heath for the opportunity to try out the pedal. It's an interesting beastie but not something I could see myself using. I just find it cuts out too much of the high end definition in my tone. Others will no doubt have different results.

It was great to give it a go anyway and I hope my demo will help some people get an idea of what it's about. Hopefully someone else will do a much flasher demo that truly shows off the pedal a bit more.

Thanks again Heath :D

Wow, thankyou Bloodmason! Excellent!

Yeah, you see, I love that deep tone on a bass; all that treble... not my thing. I guess that's why the Cave pedal DNA is the way it is. As you said though, "each to their own".

Thanks mate,
Heath

I've got the TTC and will post it to Pete in Melb next week. I've used it at one gig and a couple of home sessions.
I REALLY like it. Sure- as bloodmason's sound file above shows - it does take a bit of top end out, kind of like rolling of the tone on a passive bass halfway, but I oftern do this with my tone control anyway, & I love the grit and comp it adds.
Reminds me of Early JPJ recordings tone or Jameisons motown tone as it has a nice even quality with a hint of overdrive that sounds like the signal is compressing and overloading ALL it's signal path slightly- JUST SLIGHTLY, but that's enough for most of what I do.

I'd be REAL happy grabbing this if I could afford it, as having NO power requirements is a big plus for me. I HATE having to rig up ANOTHER power supply/ having to keep track of batteries.. I'm bad enough with active basses.......
REally like this TTC pedal. I'll give it another gig this Friday night and a rehearsal on Sunday and add to this post.

Excellent stuff Heath
