Replacing the key for a 5 year old i 20? $700 from a Hyundai dealer.
The button is perishing and will need replacement (poorly designed).
I understand some key places can do them. Is that so.?
Yes they can - not sure about the Mr Minit places in shopping malls, but I reckon a locksmith will be able to look after you

edit: looks like Mr Minit does this as well .... https://misterminit.co/keys-remotes/car-keys/

Might want to check consumer law on that one. Key perishing seems like not fit for purpose thing.

The rubber of the little button had perished. Luckily we found a second mint key that I had put away.

Consensus here is
- ask a local mechanic or specialist mechanic to recommend somewhere local and cheap.
- ask a local locksmith

I read somewhere they can simply rehouse the old working internals into a new casing. Easy fix.

We recently had to do both keys for a Mitsubishi. We had the keys and all the internals - all the electronics and the "passcode" ID thingy. The local locksmith did both for the same price that Mr Minit (and similar places) wanted to do one. Cost at the locksmith was about $45 per key. Thing that annoys me is that you can buy the blank shells for about $3, and it doesn't cost much to get a key cut (which is basically all you are talking about if you have the internals to shove back in place), but of course they will only do it if they have supplied the blank, which even at $45 is a fair old mark up....

If it is a key, then the key blade is an integral part of the device, and so you need a new casing with a blank key. That key then needs to be cut from the original. Bunnings and other places that cut keys won't do them, so you need to go to a locksmith or Mr Minit just to have the key cut.

Here's a bass related rant.

Professional, established Bass Magazine reviews a pedal that is designed to emulate the vintage sounds of the 70s classic amps.

Uses vintage 70's tube amp and vintage 70s bass in test...

I found my "missing" car key today. So relieved, it's one of those really expensive keyless entry/start ones. I knew it would turn up, I rarely lose things. :)

I start a new job in August, which I'm really happy about given I've been in my current job for 10 years - definitely time for a change. Not so much a rant, but a heads up for any of the older members here who are contemplating a job change - I've actually been applying for jobs and interviewing since August 2016 so it's been a long journey to nail the right job. It's been very time consuming and hard work while trying to remain professional in my current job. Nobody where I worked knew that I was looking, until the last minute when I reached out to someone to be a referee, so keeping this secret to myself while juggling interviews and fielding phones calls at random times from recruiters was pretty stressful for an extended period of time.

I kept a spreadsheet over those 2 years, which shows I applied (or was approached by a headhunter) for 180 different jobs, and got to an interview stage 20 times. Of those 180 applications, on 71 occasions there was no contact all all about my application to let me know I had been unsuccessful.

This is not a rant, more of a general information post, given I'm looking forward to my new job :-)

Nice one ... is the new job in the same industry?

My experience with recruiters / headhunters has been similar. Most of the time they are looking to add you to their database, in many cases I very much doubt there is actually a job in play when they advertise. I think it is why a lot of employers now advertise directly as well.

Similar job in a larger company, in a nice near new office building and with state of the art technology to play with. Only real downside is there isn't a free staff gym in the building like I have at the moment.
