the MOVIE REVIEW thread

Post by Phatbass » 06 Jul 2015, 15:31

Mad Max - Fury Road.

Just saw it. In my opinion the vehicles and *most* stunts appeared real. CGI was obviously used in the storm and lots of the explosions, and the exteriors of the citadel.

I know in my previous post I said one should just enjoy it as a full-on action movie, but now I've got to say that some sort of decent and coherent story arc would have been nice....

The film about Brian Wilson starring John Cusack gets stellar reviews - anyone seen it yet?

Ex Machina was really good. Looks amazing and the plot is great (not normally a fan of thrillers but I felt tense throughout watching it). Not enough original sci-fi recently but this is a strong movie among Transformers 12 and Star Wars: The Pre-sequel 40th Anniversary HD Edition.

I saw Amy(Winehouse) yesterday. Great movie, great voice and writer but a huge loss. She really needed someone, one person to pull her out of that life.

Glad to hear. Sometimes it ain't even possible for even a best friend to help. But yes. Talented girl and a big loss.

not that I expected Ted 2 to be as funny as the first, but I turned it off halfway thru without even a chuckle.

I just wanted to larf at a teddy bear pulling on a bong again, but even that wasn't funny second time around.

I watched Hoges: One Night Only on Telly tonight. Excellent show - Paul Hogan himself telling life stories to a live audience and via some short film clips. A really enjoyable blast from the past. Worth downloading thru iView or whatever you kids use today.
