I'm going out on my own!

Post by ScottyBoy » 06 Feb 2009, 08:49

I dont mean I am leaving my wife and kids;)

Today is my last day in a fulltime permanent job. I am going out as an independent contractor. I'm an IT code monkey. I have 2 clients to start with.

Crazy time to do it I know! Its a risk but hey, you only live once. Its been a crazy time, sold our house, bought and moved into a new one, kids starting school and now this all within the space of a few weeks.

Wish me luck!

Good luck mate, although I'm sure you won't need it.
Sometimes the crazy decisions turn out to be the best ones. And it's usually when the timing is bad to add that extra pressure.
Go for it.

Thanks boys - just had all my farewell lunches etc. Looking forward to the challenge of this year! Hopefully enough spare time to play bass ;)

I too left my permanent job yesterday, so you are not alone. I am setting up a sole practitioner legal practice in a small town. Looks like I am sharing a similar range of emotions with you: more time for family and music (but not too much spare time). Good luck.
