I just paid an extra 10% for something on ebay today. Was still way cheaper than buying the same thing from Australia, so no chance it would stop the overseas purchase.
Basses: Wasburn Status 4, Fretless 4 made from parts, Fretted through neck 5 made by me
Amp: Eminar bass 400 into home made cab with JBL 15"

Ok, so I just sent something using my Shipitto account. AU GST on Goods @ 10% + AU GST on Services @ 3% of Item's value.
It made up roughly 40% of the cost to post my guitar pedal.
3% might not seem like a lot, but it's 50% more than Shipitto was asking for to cover the handling fee.

I think it's time to find a way to avoid this bullshit.
