OK now we've had a chance to celebrate, the question become whether or not we have the appetite for a 5-0 whitewash? I have no doubt we have the bowling attack to do it. I think we can eliminate some of the question marks regarding the batting given England's bowlers are not really performing.

I'm going to call it - rain is the only thing that'll prevent 5-0!

I think they will rest Starc in Melbourne because of his bruised heel, no matter how much Smithy is saying Starc won't miss Boxing Day - the whole "player management" thing is huge these days, and they have a tour to South Africa coming up.

And then they may well rest Cummins or Hazelwood in Sydney (whoever bowls the most overs in Melbourne).

If that happens, Bird will play in Melbourne, and an extra spinner will play in Sydney. The spinner will more than likely be Agar, given they seem to like him a lot, but I'd like to see them blood a leggie, such as Swepson, or even give Fawad Ahmed a run for sh!ts and giggles, and because I'll be there and love watching leggies bowl.

It's great to win the Ashes back from the Poms, but we're only doing to them in Australian conditions what the Poms do to us in English conditions. What goes around comes around :-)

Agar has some talent with the bat, the selectors seem to put a priority on that, but his bowling isn't very effective at wicket taking. Swepson deserves a shot.

ever since Watto retired the selectors are obsessed with picking all-rounders over specialists.
Forget it, pick 6 batters, the best wicky and 4 bowlers.

only if it's a toss up between two players should they go for the all rounder.

Watto? He was a beneficiary of that obsession for all rounders, he didn't start it. Freddie Flintoff started it! Ashes 2005, Flintoff came of age in that series. We've been searching for a genuine all rounder ever since.

And there's the catch. A genuine all rounder should be good enough to be picked on either their batting or bowling alone! They're rare. Flintoff, Kallis, Botham. None of this "batting all rounder" or "bowling all rounder" crap for those guys. No one in Australia has that sort of ability, so stop trying to manufacture it.

Speaking of Watto, as a Thunder fan I had to sit quietly and try and ignore him scoring 77 last night at the Big Bash game. Of course, as usual for Watto he performed in a game that doesn't matter. I did appeal rather loudly every time he was hit on the pad, much to the chagrin of other Thunder fans sitting near me.

Did he ask for a review when he got out?

Turns out Ice Cream shops are very busy on Boxing day, so I didn't see any of yesterday's play. There was a lot of talk in the morning about the pace lost by replacing Starc with Bird. But ya know what, Shaun Tait was fast and batsmen found him ready to dispatch to the boundary ........ Pace isn't everything.

Apparently Broad bowled outside off to Warner in his 90s, and is copping it in the press today. But ya know what, I'm ok with it. The way to get Warner out once he's set is to starve him of runs.

^^ I agree. The strategy was to draw him across his stumps then get him LBW.

England come good in a dead game, a sure sign of a weak mentality

I heard a lot of the crowd left early. But it's not 20/20. It's a test match. Conditions meant it was a hard pitch to score runs. Good players play to the conditions.

Disappointed by our bottom order collapse today. We're going to have to bowl well. Interesting that Bird got the new ball over Cummins. Not sure about that decision, but we'll see what happens.
