Labor and Coalition neck and neck in Bennelong? So Newspoll reckons.
This could be very interesting.

 Allowing Dougie Cameron a clear shot at Michaelia Cash now and a spot in the Senate for Ms Kenneally should Alexander hang on in Bennelong. Also allows them to chase the three LNP guys with pecuniary interests issues that Turnbull is refusing to send to the High Court.

The Coalition will need a new answer to every question now Dastyari has gone. Perhaps, they will just go back to "Bill Shorten's fault". ;)

Absolutely- more pluses than minuses in this one.

Some criticism of Turnbull for his performance on Q&A last night.
I watched and unsurprisingly to some of you, I think the assessment below is spot on. Watch it for yourself if you think I am being too biased. I thought he got absolutely cleaned up on Indigenous recognition by a Ms Reid, from memory. He tried to misrepresent her, talk over her and dismiss her. She won the interchanges IMO. She was very impressive and the look on his face said to me he knew she had his measure. Sign her up!

While I think he's a pompous twat I think he was right. If this went to a referendum it would make the National SSM debate look like a love-in. You'd be looking at a debate framed as "should we be giving aboriginal people special rights in parliament?". Turnbull is right - there's no way in hell that would get up.

^ I think he was worse than pompous. He repeatedly tried to misrepresent what she said, talked over her, dismiss her as just "wrong" and then tried to wedge her on the value of current Indigenous MPs (so spurious that I thought that one actually insulted everyone's intelligence). It was like he forgot he was dealing with a person who knew her stuff and was smart and not a political opponent. He gets away with that stuff with opponents because that's politics and that is the game we allow and accept. Last night was reasonably special. He was an a show called Q & A, not Question Time. He was there as the sole guest, the Prime Minister, to answer questions, not play politics. He got a cracker of a question about why ask us what we think and then dismiss us from a Indigenous woman. She wove in the incongruity with the Marriage Equality process decision. He blew it.
However, I understand why you would think he was right. Given his lack of leadership and honesty on most issues, Marriage Equality is a perfect example, such a debate would be a waste of time with he and the redneck right involved. It would put Indigenous affairs even further back than he already has.
However, imagine a world where the government just sometimes leads opinion on important issues. Where PMs occasionally spent their political capital on doing the right thing. Where politics was not always a tedious binary blood sport. Where wedge politics tactics were not the norm. Where the PM has authority in his Party. and actually publicly rejects the racist nonsense that comes out of ONP, Bernardi and the right of the Coalition, rather than dog whistle it at most opportunities.
Big important changes require leadership. This is the same failure of leadership that leaves us with the ongoing disgrace of Manus and Nauru.

Fancy that! Three times in recent times hackers have hacked accounts related to government figures.
Oh my! How silly they are to pick the ones they did. Everyone knows Joe Hockey is a big fan of Malcolm Turnbull, after Malcolm ended Joe's political career and told everyone who would listen what an idiot Joe was. Why on earth would they try and make out that Hunt and Pyyyyyne were interested in gay porn? Hmmm. I thought what happened in Noosa stayed in Noosa. How ridiculous.... they are both married.

Here's an interesting one.
None of us could understand why LNP MLA for Buderim, Steve Dickson, jumped ship to ONP before the last Qld election. We knew he would be gone after the election and he was in no uncertain terms. Buderim is like Wentworth Blue Ribbon LNP. What could be in it for him to do this, we thought?
Lo and behold. An ongoing job for Steve with ONP!
Inducement?

Seems to be hotting up in Bennelong. The Liberal polling must have Malcolm worried. Lots of phone calls to voters from both sides no doubt. We got 4 in a week here from the LNP when the sitting LNP guy figured he was in trouble. I actually reckon they do more harm than good.

I had a live call from a Keneally staffer last night (I was at my son's year 6 graduation dinner) and have had 3 recorded messages from the ALP within the past two weeks. Haven't had any contact from the Libs at all. When I asked the Keneally staffer how he got my mobile number he said he got it off the electoral roll - that's complete BS since I don't think I've ever given them my mobile number, in fact I don't even think you need to provide a phone number to register on the electoral roll?
