Cool! Thanks for the info.
There are definitely days where something like this would come in "handy"

Well, in the last 10 months, I've actually not lost or gained any weight (95-96kg) ... but I reckon I have added quite a bit of muscle to the frame. (I've taken a not-for-public-viewing photos and there's definitely a difference).

I've added running to my "fun things to do"... On Saturday mornings I do a 5k parkrun with the kids (if they are motivated to do so). I'm pretty much a turtle and I am pretty consistent at completing the run at just around 30mins (sometimes a little over, sometimes a little under)... I just got a training watch, so we'll see if I can push myself a little harder knowing where I am and put up some better times.

In terms of upper-body strength, I do weighted dips with 30kg hanging from a belt, I do incline dumbbell bench presses with 37.5kg weights, and I do many sets of pull-ups in the 7-10 reps/set range ... but I can do 16 to failure...
Lower body is pretty much the same as in June... probably a little better in that I can now rock-bottom squat 120kg ...

I have overcome a left-shoulder problem (completely healed) and now I have a right-elbow problem (been bugging me for 3 months (it's just now starting to get a little better, but biceps curls are out except for very light hammer curls where I concentrate on eccentric movement).

Bit of a strong man there Pilbara.

I used to Powerlift, but don't anymore these days. Work, band and family/GF (in no particular order) have made it pretty hard to get into a consistent lifting pattern. I tend to get my 10,000 steps in daily and go for a run and that's about it. Although i'll do some squats and pressing tonight when i get home.

Goals for this year would probably to lose a few kg and come up with a strength training program that's realistic.

I got progressively worse for 4 straight days, then BANG! Just like that, all the effects disappeared overnight. I'm good as new today. Onwards and upwards!

I would love to be able to handle more, but I have to be realistic at age 52...
As a a younger man, I messed with powerlifting type training, but never did anything like compete or really take it seriously.

I always admired the freakishly strong people. Billy Kazmaier (powerlifting), Vasily Alekseyev (Olympic lifting) are two of my personal favourites... Now I'm starting to get into crossfit (more as a spectator, lol) and I'm pretty impressed with Matthew Fraser and our local gal, Tia-Clair Toomey, as well.

Good to hear the chemo went well, Pete!

And Kerry - those are fantastic numbers for your age (and better than most younger blokes could do) - keep up the great work.

For me in 2017, I'm in the same boat as Pete - kicking cancer's arse!

Had my best 5k park run yesterday ... 28:57 ...
I know it's slow , but after 20 runs, it's only my 4th time under 30mins and first time under 29 ...

Legs are sore today, though ... usually they aren't ... :)

Made it through another fairly flat and easy bike ride on Saturday morning so have brought my gym bag to work with me today - will start on some light weights and see how I go.

Not exactly the same thing, but related: I had a pretty bad case of flu last year and it knocked me for a 6... I missed only 5 days at the gym, but it took me over 2 months to get back to where I was before the illness. My point is: that it may take a little while, but you WILL get back to where you were (maybe even better)
