Hanson...El Presidente for life.
Get's to pick her successor- just what we need in a democracy. No wonder she is so popular with the Alt Right.

Angry Anderson is her successor?

Yes they are but it is worse than just that.

The Libs philosophical hatred of of government owned anything and everything coupled with Hanson's pathological hatred of the ABC because they ask her questions, has the ABC in real trouble. Add to that the commercial broadcasters insistence on a "level playing field" except when it doesn't advantage them..

I like this bit of the article. It is absolutely farcical to give Murdoch the $30M. It shows our government at it's best. Using our money to curry favour with powerful interests.
The $30m of government money given, apparently with few strings attached, to Foxtel last year was really just “compensation” for the fact that the commercial TV operators got a windfall gain with the abolition of their broadcast licence fees and replacement with spectrum fees. This saves the broadcasters around $90m per year (money which is forgone government revenue, by the way) so, of course, Foxtel had to be similarly rewarded for … running a commercial business in a competitive market.
It’s not yet clear what Foxtel will spend this money on, although some of it may be earmarked to support the nefarious deal it recently struck with Network Seven and Cricket Australia to do an end-run around the anti-siphoning legislation and put a load of international one day matches behind a paywall.

Curious move by the Government.

They should just go to a full election.

Very sad state of affairs.
ABC News would like to clarify that neither ABC News nor the ABC’s independent complaints investigation found that an article on corporate tax written by Emma Alberici “wrongly claimed that Australia’s largest companies paid no tax despite earning billions” or “confused company revenue with profits, on which taxes are paid”, as reported by The Australian today. The article was found to have included some factual errors, some of which were introduced during the editing process.

ABC News takes any factual errors seriously and the article was quickly corrected. A summary of the ABC’s internal investigation into the story can be found at http://about.abc.net.au/complaints/abc-news-online-265/

The Australian has also incorrectly stated that “Alberici’s news story and analysis piece … were removed and substantially rewritten”. The news article (Why many big companies don’t pay corporate tax) was amended but never removed. The analysis piece (There’s more to jobs and growth than a corporate tax cut) was reworked and republished

Only Hanson could oppose something and then say it should be implemented quicker. Oh.... probably Trump could too- similarly stupid supporter base.
"The whole fact is, if they’re serious about this, then start doing something about it now," she told News Corp.
https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal ... 4zgns.html

There is a whole lot more to this and some of it is in the article in the Australian- which you may or may not be asked to pay to look at. I seem to get a freebie each day.

Looks like Hanson knows the very big business tax cuts are much on the nose and also doesn't want to be associated with them or be called out for being a Liberal stooge in the by elections. Too late, Pauline- your voting record stands.

Yesterday she was threatening to preference against the Libs/ Nats- because some of their back benchers were being mean to her, today she is back to threatening Labor. I think she may end up doing what she did in the Qld State election and preference against the sitting members- very good news for Labor. The 8 Coalition seats held on skinny margins in Qld going to Labor would win the election for Shorten. It would also remove that stain- Dutton.

It probably also doesn't help that the stupid apprenticeship deal she did with Cormann to get her votes for the first phase of the business tax cuts hasn't been funded in the budget. Effectively, the Coalition has reneged on the deal with her. You really have to question the competence of the Government.

Unions are now pushing for the return of the ability to launch secondary boycotts. This was inevitable and probably needed. It is not just the unions calling for the return of this and other industrial bargaining measures, it has been a topic of discussion in Labor membership for some time now.

https://www.smh.com.au/business/workpla ... 4zgfl.html

Coalition governments in power for almost three quarters of the last two decades have lead to a situation where workers are too disadvantaged in bargaining and are suffering because of it.

Predictably, business groups will say it will be the end of the world.

Perhaps Emma should run her drafts past Malcolm first.
What a joke.

A good article from Laura Tingle.
Yep, we are ruled by the machinations of self-serving politickers. I suppose the same since before Federation. But there is a notable difference now - as I've alluded to once before, I always liked to think cricket was a mark of the civilising influence on (ex-)British-connected nations; but I think its demise is a token that the very basis of morals has/is being quietly demolished - the basis of morality is now increasingly tipped toward whatever the group-think says is acceptable, rather than any fixed, accepted morality.
As a result Western nations are beginning to fall to internal rot, steadily.

Less fall to internal rot and more desperately try to embrace the very different set of values that exemplify the US.

Hanson might flip again on the very big business handouts.

How can anyone vote for her?

I would also question the 63% result. Sounds like an attempt by Murdochville to engineer a self fulfilling prophecy.
