I wonder if they do "offset" payment?

It's very impressive with the variance to the tone pallet and at the same time ugly as and very expensive. If I was going to spend EU$2.5K plus import costs, say AU$4.8K landed for one, I'd want it a lot more refined. Would it cost that much more to do a decent case and etched labels? I spent less on the Demeter 300W VTHF and the Glock Classic Preamp.

Then the tech head in me goes KT66 at 60W that's pretty much full bore for those valves and then he says they're interchangeable for 6L6 valves which are more like 50W each. Surely the power supply doesn't have that much head room in it. Wouldn't mind seeing under the bonnet and see what the switching arrangement does to the valve voltages etc.

Bottom line it's not a Monique anyway and no it wouldn't move her out of my collection she's just way to pretty and does what she does so well.

I play a Tronographic Rusty Box into Monique and cop a similar OD tone.

Wow, it's amazing what some people can make. My first reaction was yeah, really nice amp but no xlr di out.......until Gregor mentioned that each amp is fully customisable. Sweet....but yeah, you pay for it.

I think I'd still want a Monique, personally.

If someone's selling theirs to get one of these...*ahem*

There is no I think I want a Monique, there is only I want a Monique.

They come up on TB occasionally as people upgrade to the Monique/power amp combo's Jule sells. The thing would be to buy from the guy and have him send it to Jule for the transformer change and then have Jule send it onto you. It'd be cheaper than buying one new from him and I imagine you'd dodge the customs because when he sends it to you then it's a factory repair that is on the import invoice. Is that naughty?

That's the problem - I know I want the rack/Tardis 700 with the poweramp in it, not just Monique on her own. Though the dovecage really is a work of art...

It's also a lot of money to spend on an amp that I've never spent time with... :peep:

I’m heading up to Surfers for the Masters games in early Nov. if I come up by car, as that’s the current plan, would you want to borrow Monique for a little while? Wouldn’t be a bother to pack her.

Would I?!

I'd be honoured. Wouldn't be much effort to drive down to the GC, and brentonbassist lives down that way too and would love to give her a run I'm sure.

Which version do you have again? Preamp-only dovecage?
I can run her through the poweramp on the B|Amp if so, pretty clean Class D power section right there.

I'll bring it with me then, PM me your phone number so I can call you when I get in etc.

I have the pre-amp only in the black bamboo. The dove-cage was a bit too metallic in it's tone so I went for the warmth of wood..... :rollno:
