Lars insists on an all analogue console to cut out all of the bass guitar, down to not being able to hear it and then down another 15dB. So it equals his IQ.

Now, now, flanger has it's place. When you are playing something rock-ish and the rest of the band insists on a root note on the beat from the bass, you have to do something to make it a bit less boring ;-)
