bassmaniac69 has come to my aid
in a way that was never anticipated
and what a champion he is for doing so.

hey man, we are all good friends here and have unknown sresses away from our bass playing that impacts our lives. We are allowed to 'lose it' now and then.
I have transgressed a few times, more than I would have liked to, but the mods are very tolerant and understanding. Firm but fair. I too have recieved some stellar advice from bassmaniac69 and would like to also thank him and the othe other mods here. And the members for being understanding and not holding grudges :)

Cheers BazzBass and Bassline,
and I couldnt agree more with the sentiments expressed here . . well said.

the Splene. . yes

I am a non- practicing Alcoholic (have been sober for several years)
However, when I was at my worst (which was truly appalling)
I was trying to change a light globe, absolutely smashed (me, not the globe)
and lost my balance on the stool that I was standing on
made a dive (kinda) to the left, to avoid all the glasses on the table in front of me,
and caught the sharp edge of the table , which was like a sharp laminex typa thing, in my lower left midriff. .
I DO remember lying there for ages swearing and going owwww . .
then saying "#$%@ this, I'm going to bed".
Of course (?) when I woke in the morning , I could not remember any of this
and I was sore, but that wasnt unusual, really
Fast forward 3 days, . . not really feeling so hot (I lived alone)
longer story short, I finally drove myself to the hospital (now THATS a lot of fun)
they took one look at me and said "you're Grey, sit over there"
So yeah , ruptured spene, bleding internally for 3 days . .
couldnt even get a needle into me to GIVE me blood , so they could operate
my system had completely collapsed , and I was a couple of hours from carking it, they reckon.
They kept asking me what I'd done and I still hadnt remembered the fall.
anyway , St Vincents in Sydney did a tremendous job, 'coz they had to take EVERYTHING out
and get rid of all the clotted blood inside me . .
so what should have been a nice little scar, turned ito me being zippered from rib cage to pubes . . 28 clips
4 days later , in one of the wards, I suddenly remembered the fall etc. . .
And thats the kind of thing that will stop you drinking , dont you reckon?
No way . . .
anyway I finally did stop couple of years later.

The Liver (you know, the thing I was bashing the crap out of ) is an amazing thing ,
and takes over a lot of the duties of the splene ,
which seems to me to be the bludger of your body . . . lol
A couple of vaccinations every 3 or 4 years , and I 've never noticed any difference , happy to say '

Father of one of my son's friends was changing a light bulb that shattered in his hand. He cleaned himself up went to the local clinic and got a few stitches. No big deal. Fast forward a few days and he's picked up one of those nasty flesh eating bugs and over the ensuing weeks lost over half of his arm tissue to it. Almost dies of blood poisoning. Scary things those light bulbs.

thats just aweful,
and a terrible shame .
Hospitals and clinics ARE a haven for those terrible bugs
and I know a disturbing number of people that have had bad unneccessary complications from their visits there ..
IMO, light bulbs are handy , Alcohol is tricky and people have to watch how they handle both , eh?
