NBD (Sorta): Telejazz Parts Bass

Post by Arctopus » 07 Aug 2018, 21:28

With my one and only bass at the time being tuned to drop C, I thought I’d see what I could pick up on Facebook Marketplace.

Suddenly, this appeared.

Image

A mystery Jazz Bass complete with multiple dodgy stickers, a no-name 3 band preamp and, unbeknownst to me at the time, a broken truss rod.

The price was right though... and how could I say no to seafoam green?

After getting it home and discovering the slight issue with the truss rod, a new neck was my only option.

But, why stop at a new neck?

Along with the new maple Allparts tele style neck, it now also has Gotoh hardware, a pick guard and control plate that fits properly, a set of Dimarzio Model Js, passive VVT controls with a series / parallel switch, fully shielded cavity, CTS pots and a Switchcraft jack.

Sounds beefy!

...yeah basically. The wife was extremely happy to hear that I wanted to spend hundreds of dollars on my new “cheap” bass.

Hah, she said the same thing! She said I should've just not told her about any of it and she wouldn't have known. I'll remember for next time.
