Double bass bargain to be had in Bondi

Post by mcrawfordmusic » 27 Jul 2018, 08:03

I saw this a couple of days ago.
I'd hoped to go in and have a look yesterday afternoon but ran out of time.

They are referring to it as a 3/4 double bass cello.

They're asking $399 but I spoke to them and they said they would go as low as $330. I considered buying it but I already own two and you can't exactly store them in the wardrobe.

It's likely to be rubbish but a good price for anyone wanting to muck around with an upright.

I don’t think that’s a 3/4 DB maybe a 1/2 size and it looks a bit big for a full sized cello. I’ll ask the wife as she’ll know.

Yeah I thought that too. I think the guy "playing" it is really tall though.

He can't be that tall. My string playing music teach wife says it's not a cello and will be a fractional DB but which one she doesn't know but thinks it is looking too small for a 3/4.

Certainly is Rod, they all come in fractional sizes. My wife teaches violin and there is at least one of every size in the cupboard. The 1/4 is exceedingly cute.

No way that's a 3/4 DB.
