Yeah na. The Animas are silk core with copper wrap (I believe) so mag pups are out. Thats ok though - you should be able to deal with most situations with a piezo pickup and decent preamp.

IMO a good preamp should have a variable HPF and high input impedance (1 - 10meg). parametric controls are good and phase switch can also help. If you get an FDeck or Broughton HPF you can put that in front of any amp and yr good to go.

Thanks,

So a HPF to take care of rumble/bloom etc., into a VT bass then? Would that do the trick?

I'm not sure why you'd want the vt to be honest. Your amp should be able to give enough eq options. Generally best to keep your signal as clean as possible.

... and yeah low end boom is a major source of feedback particularly with a big rig on a boomy stage. I never gig without hpf.

Hmmm.... I'm reading reviews. All a bit confusing, YMMV sort of stuff.
Also given I've got a ply bass & not a carved one might change things too.

So far the K&K Bass Max looks like it's worth a look.

^^ Haha. Yeah my condolences on your future bank account. :D

I've heard some decent clips of the K&K. Never tried it tho.

Nope. Animas are copper and synthetic. Mag pick up won't sense that.

I'd suggest you could make yourself this with these and a socket.

Very true. Funnily enough, I've been looking at making a piezo. There certainly is a lot of YMMV information out there.

I spotted this;

Animas. I love these strings.
Finally got my bass back from the luthier. Bridge cut & installed, fingerboard re-glued to neck (massive deadspot fixed), tuners fixed, and Anima's on.
I played them for about 3 hours last night, didn't get blister or a sore left wrist, they're not stretching anymore.
Excellent strings. I'm impressed!! Thanks for the advice boys (tips hat) :notworthy: :yep

Good stuff. Mine are still stretching in. Still need to tune once or twice a set.

For some reason I found I can intonate better with these strings than the Spiros. Dunno why....
