NBD Ibanez 1977

Post by pjm » 12 Oct 2017, 13:15

New acquisition, 1977 Silver Series P in insanely clean condition. All original, no fret wear, neck is perfect , even come with foam under the bridge cover! Bought it from a really nice fella who said it was his dads. Told him i'll honer the instrument and put it to good use. I'm going to leave it stock except taken the thumb rest off, keeping the ashtrays on. The neck feels as good as any MIA, MIJ P I've ever played. After a quick look under the hood she's definitely solid body (not ply) and a beautiful weight.

The Silver Series are known for being good. Pretty sure Graham Maby used a Silver Series Jazz with tapewound strings, into a Fender Bassman on the first Joe Jackson album and said he always regretted selling it.

70's Ibanez' are great instruments.
They got even better in the 80's with the musicians and roadsters etc.

I own a 71' EB3 and an 81' Blazer, both are great!

Nice! My 2nd bass. Loved it too. Traded it on an almost exactly the same Fender P in about '79 & honestly the Fender wasn't any better or worse. .. but the guy who stole it obviously thought it was :ticked:

Loving this bass, played it at a blues jam last night and someone described it as really punchy plus lots of gawking over how good condition it's in. Chucked on some Dr flats and it's pretty much a perfect P.
