I have two... one from 2007, one from 2015... While I prefer my 5-strings to the 4's these days, it's only fairly recently that I jumped on the low-B bandwagon.

Not a 5, but my Modulus Quantum 6 is from 1990. People still think it looks new.

I seriously considered picking up that RBX5 but I have learnt my lesson on tight string spacing.

Pretty sure my Pre-Gib Tobias Classic 5 was made in '86 or '87.

Afraid this one was early nineties, so much newer.

Smart move; I didn't have it long, for that exact reason!

Pretty sure that bass came up for sale on Talkbass, many years ago, had quite a few mods, like Direct Out, etc. No idea where it ended up.

That would probably be right; from what I remember of the Starlicks Doco he did, he more or less admitted to not really bonding with the 5'er; much preferring another Bass that Tobias custom made for him with 4 extra frets (hate to try to buy strings for that in a hurry...)

Back o/t; has anyone ever played one of those quirky 5 strings Fender put out in the '60s? Just curious what Fender was aiming for with that.
