Nice lookers.
How does the Gretsch bass sound? Do you find the combination of fretless and hollow body gets you closer to the upright bass sound?
I see..............basses!

The Gretsch sounds great, I am guessing there is a definite upright sound but not being an upright player I can't be sure. Just after the conversion to fretless I took it to practice and a few days later a quiet gig, and the other guys liked it, and I enjoyed that I can trust my ear to hit the notes. I got the multi scale 5 string not long after so have been putting time into that extra string, in the past I have gone from four to six strings, but like the smaller jump to five. I'm thinking I will take the Gretsch to rehearsal tomorrow to hide the fact that I haven't really looked at the new songs we are doing.

Here's one from a festival a few months ago with "Safari Motel"...
https://www.facebook.com/safarimotelband/

I'm rockin' my main bass - a CIJ Fender '57 Reissue with EMG GZR Pickups, Anodised Gold Plate and Hipshot Vintage Bridge... It's amazing.

The GK Rig in the background was supplied by the festival... it had so much punch it hurt to stand in front of it he he...
