New Flea Jazz Bass

I think this is an absolutely worthy replica for a signature series. Flea's original 61 sounds unreal and oozes mojo.

Has he used a J Bass often enough to warrant this?
* 2 Stingray 5's (one heavily modded), Ibanez SR805, Ashbory, + more...
* Carvin B1500, Epifani PS1000, Ashdown Superfly amps.
* Lots of DIY neo/lightweight cabs including one made from composites http://www.ozbassforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2546

Probably not, but it's a nice looking bass nevertheless. Now if they'd only fix the truss rod access on these things so you don't need to remove the neck to make adjustments that would be just awesome.

Wonder what crazy price it'll be in Australia :/

He played the 61 on the last 3 records, and took it out on a few tours over the last 10 years or so.
I guess that when you are Flea, you don't have to answer to anyone about what warrants what. :cool:

Here's one of the tours he used it on. Sounds mighty.
I'd hazard a guess as that the signature model has come about by him approaching Fender to clone to original - so he CAN use them more, rather than take the 61. He has been using the clones on this latest tour.

Nice. I like that a lot. Quite tasteful relic work.

Haha this video is great. A truly great player and inspiration.

He most defiantly deserves his own signature jazz!

Interesting fact I just found out while reading about this bass........Flea (Michael Balzary) was born in Mount Waverley, Melbourne. Just a few suburbs away.

Sorry....nothing to do with the bass, just an interesting bit of trivia.
