FS/FT: Supro Westbury guitar and Laney Cub 12R guitar amp

Post by Tendollarcat » 10 Feb 2019, 11:56

In recent attempts to keep my musical brain working alongside the demands of a young family and job, I had a crack at playing guitar. It was a bad idea and I picked up the bass again for the first time in months and felt completely at home. So, the purpose of this post is to sell/trade off some nice guitar gear and get myself a nice bass rig.

First up is a Supro Westbury guitar. I tried one of these in a shop about a year ago and fell in love. They have incredible gold foil pickups and a lovely playable neck. After buying this (for $1050) I think I have spent a total of about ten hours playing it. It’s in need of new strings but it’s greatest use so far has been me looking at it thinking “I really should play that”. So it’s basically brand new. A good review is here -

I’m looking for a sale at around $775. I don’t have a case for it so would prefer a local sale in Brisbane.

Next up is a Laney Cub12R. It’s a 15 watt tube combo with a celestian speaker. It also has a cool 1w mode. My version is in excellent condition and has been hardly played. This amp has one slightly weird quirk. When warming up, the volume tends to cut in and out until it’s been played for about ten minutes and then it’s fine. It was put in for a service and the tech assured me that it has had no issues (solder, tubes etc totally ok) and just needs to be played more frequently and at some volume. As per the guitar story, I haven’t been playing it much. Factoring this in, I’m looking for about $280 on this. Again, prefer a local sale in Brisbane.

These sales are going into a bass amp so please feel free to contact me with trade options. I’m looking for a nice quality head, cab or combo (looking for 200watt or more) Just send me a pm if you have any ideas.

Thanks Mark! All is going really well. Crazily, our youngest started kindy this year so it’s probably why I’ve finally had a few minutes to think about playing bass again. I enjoy writing and singing on guitar but bass has always felt more natural for me.

Hope all is well for you and family too!
