I'd love to hear your thoughts on it Mark. I've seen 10 billion clips on youtube and the players always make them sound sh*t...

No, seriously, I've dug the look and sound since Annalisse Morrow played one in the Maybe Dolls. I know what you guys mean about 90% of the YouTube videos featuring Kubicki are slap only, but I did find one demo online that showcased the range of "real" bass tones properly. I really liked the Steinie XL2 I owned, other than the strange ergonomics, so the fact that the Kubicki has a "normal" body means it's going to feel better to me than a Steinberger when it's strapped on.

Why not try a Steinberger M series bass, just like Uncle Bill? Plenty of them around, and Ed Roman seems to have every spare body that was made http://www.edroman.com/guitars/steinberger.htm
