... Loved the range of sounds.
I can't find a whole lot of sound samples of this. what kind of tones does it pull? I'm guessing J bass-ish..?

From memory: (note, we're talking 20 year old memories so check with the seller!!)

Mostly the tones given are modern hifi "dark but perfectly clear" tones (e.g. transparent) are really easy to get. Great for big bands and R&B where you need to be heard but also be out of the way of everything else that needs to be heard. A nice bubble attack places some push at the start of the note (again, easy to keep your band in time without starting a volume war) although more of the attack is string dependent and lives in the treble range - typical of through-neck instruments.

The solo'd bridge pickup retains that bubble and becomes a 'burp' as needed.

The C string sounded pretty skinny, as did the G sometimes: you wouldn't play basslines on the C, but playing light chords exploiting the C and G strings is possible without ruining whatever bassline you're holding down on the fat strings.

B string is clear, polite and precise, rather than "thunderous" like some guys boast.

So yes J-bass "ish" but further in that direction and more "neck through" sounding/feeling.

Good summation; blending in the piezo bridge also adds a sweetness at the top end and adds heft to the fundamental, Very even across the range.
I have just got myself an Audio interface (Scarlett 2i2) so I'm just working through how to record something useful to compare. (Might mean a PC upgrade to get it to run)

If you're looking to record definitely try Reaper! Free to use, features equal to pro-tools (I know engineers who have access to both and prefer reaper), easily run on older PC's and is so small you can run it from a thumbdrive.

Can't believe this hasn't shifted yet! I really wish I could justify having another 6 String; however I barely get to use the one I've already got. :/

At a Music Shop I was working in many years ago, we got one of the TRB-5P's in when they first came out; we're talking maybe '91 or '92. We had a lot of high end Basses in that Shop, & this thing just slayed the lot of them!!
