No, these are active pickups. It has a battery. The stock pickups were EMG HZ (passive) and a 2-band active pre-amp, I believe. The HZ pickups were replaced with EMG X series pickups and the pre-amp replaced with 2 x volume + tone.

Price reduced to $449 (neg).

Trades welcome! Even if the bass is worth less than the asking price, I may want it anyway.

Reduced to $399 ono.

Or trade for a 4 string bass. Got an entry-level 4 string bass lying around that you don't use anymore?

$349 ono, new pics added. I'm starting to have second thoughts and fantasizing about pimping it out with new strings and Bartolinis.

Hi there. I got a quote from Pack Send... It's almost as much as the bass itself, lol. I think you're better off putting the money into something local, you'll get a better bass for the money. There's usually a lot of great stuff around Tweed Heads if you want to go for a short drive.

Thanks for the interest. I may have lined up a swap for a 4 string squire vintage vibe bass, I'll update the thread if this goes ahead.

Maybe, but someone is coming tomorrow to try it out - he may buy it. If not, I'll get back to you.

He didn't show up. Second no-show from gumtree.

Alright, I've decided, for now, to keep this bass. The action / nut / fretwork is just so great it would be a shame to get rid of it at such a low price. I'm also sick of staying home and waiting for people to arrive who don't show up (no-one here, they're gumtree people.)

Now that I've raised the pickup heights a bit, I'm starting to like the EMG sound more, so I'll experiment with it. Maybe chuck it a pre-amp. It will probably sound much better with new strings too. I originally wanted to get a 4 string for slap, but perhaps I'll learn to slap with a 5 string. We'll see.
