SOLD! 1972 Fender Jazz

Post by herzog » 15 Apr 2018, 10:37

Hi guys,

For sale (which I'm sure I'll regret!) - my 1972 Fender Jazz in Olympic White and bound & blocked neck.

This is a really solid example of a nice vintage Fender. Plays really smoothly, very punchy, and also very light.

At some point in its life I believe someone (inexplicably) put a Musicman bridge and tuners on it - however it's previous owner re-installed (most likely non-original) Fender hardware - hence the plugs on either side of the bridge.

It was suffering from microphonic pickups when I initially bought it, but I had the pickups potted by Jeff Mallia. It was set up by the fantastic Matt Bulluss a few years back, and it hasn't needed any tweaking since then.

Currently strung up with some nice LaBella flats. Comes with a non-original hardcase.

It's located in Sydney - would prefer local sale but happy to discuss shipping if necessary.

Happy to supply extra photos and answer any questions.

$3250

Forgot to add - it has the "60's" pickup spacing (3.6inch pole-to-pole)

Nice bass. Good luck with the sale.

How sure are you the hardware that was reinstalled was original?
I ask because the tuners don't look like the correct ones for 72- stem should be longer and they should be nickel. Those look to be possiblythe late 70s Fender badged Schallers or reissues.
Happiness is .......a Telebass and 500W.

Thanks, Veebass - you could very well be right. They do look like the stock late 70s Fender tuners. If only all instruments could detail their long and pitted histories! Have amended the original post.
