^ By eye, it looks like if you'd placed the rear coil in the same spot, you'd have to mess with the pickguard and control plate, which would spoil the aesthetic.
"Turn everything to 11, dump instruments in front of the amp and manipulate pedals for 5 minutes" - me.

I saw that, too... I recently messed around with a Cort GB94 that had an MM bridge pickup in a very similar spot... It sounded great...nice and growly
