Oh to have a nice surprise windfall and snap this up... But alas, thus far, 2014 will prove "challenging"

Oh that's just not fair.

What a beautiful bass! You're an artist, Phil.
Can someone please buy this and put the rest of us out of our misery, though? ;)

I'll chime in.

I'm a big fan of Phil' builds. I own one and love the way he does his necks. I got 5 minutes with #28 and the feel of this on doesn't disappoint. The build quality is there, as you'd expect, I can't tell you how it sounds because it really wasn't the best of environs for that but there isn't any reason it wouldn't sound as good as it looks.

Also chiming in.

I had a go of it for longer than 5 min and had difficulty putting it down. I was able to pull a fairly wide variety of sounds and was impressed with the solidity of the B string. Neck felt great and the whole lot felt nearly weightless! Wound have liked to have heard some flats on it...... ;) Gave the impression of being a high end bass that could really grunt under your fingers if asked.
Overall a fantastic bass! Well done, Phil, and thanks for bringing it down for everyone to drool on.
