4st Sunburst 70's Jazz - #024

Post by Phil » 04 Jan 2013, 23:29

This one's going to Ireland, its been about a year in progress now, about time I put it up here

Swamp Ash body, Dark Cherry Sunburst, Nordstrand NJ4 70's wind, Sadowsky preamp, flamed Maple neck, Birdseye Maple fingerboard, MOP block inlays and binding

This one is also getting back access stringing so I created a drilling template on the CNC to line up the 4 holes

This should likely be finished within a couple of weeks too, still waiting on the Sadowsky preamp which was out of stock for the longest time :banghead:

The neck is amazing Phil, and it is a shame to hide that lovely ash, but i think it works good with the fireglow.
More pics please! :)

The year is off from taking orders :) I'm finishing off 023 and 024 to officially take my break and the other two (026,027) were nice relaxing personal projects for my time off :D

I really love the inlay material you use Phil. It's not fake looking like a lot of other mass producers, but the REAL DEAL. The block inlays on this neck are another great example, they look fantastic

Thanks guys, yeah Mother Of Pearl looks great, a hell of a lot better than the fake stuff and to tell the truth, it's also easier to find than the fake stuff, don't ask me whats that crappy stuff Fender uses, I've never seen it sold anywhere

Last pics of this build, here's what the sunburst looked like after the last colour coats

Now on the workbench to finish the assembly and setup

Sadowsky preamps now come pre-wired with PCB type pots like Audere and East preamps, besides being more expensive than before, they're actually a whole lot simpler to install, wire the bridge lead to a pot and wire in the pickup leads and thats it, easiest and fastest active wiring I've ever done

Image

I thought I'd put a pic of how cool the MOP blocks and the Birdseye Maple looks like

Very nice!

You're so good at applying a tri-burst... I know you've had you're share of teething problems with burst technique , but man, you've got it down pat now!
