Bass Strings Online closing down

Post by Rickles » 14 Aug 2018, 10:58

The price of strings is about to go up.

From TB https://www.talkbass.com/threads/bass-s ... g.1358976/

Bought a fair few sets of strings from Jason, and was able to buy more to experiment with due to his low prices. Another good thing is coming to an end. His site is down, momentarily, while he gets a grip on his inventory and how he's going to move it. It'll be a mad scramble, so good luck everyone.

Sucks.

Very happy with Jason's service, range and price of strings. Single source for everything, now it'll be different suppliers and higher prices.

Will try to get as many DR PureBlues (.040 - .120) sets as possible!!!

Michael

How long can strings be stored unused for, does age effect them ?

Not that i've noticed. As long as they're sealed etc still
I took a coated set of DR's outta the pack a couple of weeks ago and they're as good as 'new' , they were probly 7 or 8 yrs old.
I also put a set of D'Addario rounds on last week, that were possibly same vintage and they are sweet too

I'd say minimal, if any effect. Most certainly will last longer than having them on the bass and playing them ;) .

If you're totally paranoid you can always vacuum-seal them to avoid any chance of oxidation.

Meh, my shopping experience with BSO online was terrible. I would never have shopped there again anyway.

.
That's a shame.
I always thought Jason provided an excellent service. He was very obliging.
Can't quite let go of my basses. They're kind of addictive.

a few years ago BSO had a one day only offer of a free BSO Nail Clipper

So I ordered one just for the heck of it.
Paid the $10 postage.
Well, Jason had a giggle at my caper and figured he'd help me out and added a T shirt, beanie, stickers and a strap,oh,and a second nail clipper.

PS I promised the second clipper to Rocksolid but still haven't caught up with him, my bad :(

although I never used them, I hate to see any business that supports musos close.
especially, these great, little niche businesses that loyal customers come to love.

Shipping was US$50 so I bailed on what I could find left up there. Alternatives anyone? Particularly someone who stocks GHS Balanced Nickels? BSO was the only place I knew of that did.

I’ve never had anything but exceptional service and support from Jason. Managed to get a last order in before the shipping price went up, luckily.
