Replacement shoulder straps for gig bags?

Post by cleary » 04 Apr 2018, 16:47

Hi Folks,
I've got a couple of old gig bags which have missing/broken shoulder straps - has anyone ever looked into replacements for them?

The bags themselves are pretty rubbish so I'm not interested in spending a lot, but they do need to be secure (metal clasps).
There's plenty of options on ebay, but I'm having a bit of difficulty deciding on min length required (and getting the right colour... :p)

More expensive:

Dogs balls:

Discrete!:

Any recommendations?

I literally have no idea what "long enough" is - do you have any you could give us a measurement for?
I'm concerned about getting them too long and having the bag slooped behind my knees

I just looked at the gigbag I use which is Gigbag (TM) and I have them set at about 90cm but I adjusted them to 80cm and they work OK. 80cm is maximum length on those cheaper options. Your gigbag may be different.

Thanks for that - 75-100 seems reasonable then (for Gigbag TM at least). Quite a lot of the stuff on ebay I'm finding is just over shoulder strap replacements which are _really_ long and I'm not sure are going to do the job...
