First timer

Post by billb » 22 May 2017, 22:34

Well, 18 months ago I took up the bass again after 20 years (I was rubbish back then and I still am - but I really enjoy it :) ). So then I decided to build a bass.

I don;t have access to a full workshop, nor do I have the skill (yet) to build a neck from scratch or or shape a body completely so I bought a cheap kit from PitBull Guitars in WA and built it. It was just a basic J Shape so it got a fair bit of reshaping of the horns, headstock, body etc. Ash body, EMG passive pickups, Gotoh and other assorted hardware. Finished with Pitbull DIngotone stain and a custom pickguard.

I had a lot of fun & am really happy with the result! & it certainly won;t be the last one I'll build :)

Anyway, all suggestions and comments welcome.

I like it. The pick guard has a Batman vibe.

Nice personalisation of what otherwise would have been "JAJB" (just another Jazz bass). Many more happy builds :)

And Ivan, there's a link to a Soundcloud recording ... .

Welcome to bass building. Looks like a pretty good start. :)
