Re: Politically correct or not? (Fender related)

What the kid said. I don't put logos on my two Nashes, which are made from licensed parts, but my Alan Knight has a logo (it came that way). Cool, I remember seeing some Nash's with the Fender logo, did he get in some strife over it and stop doing it or something? Nash's have never come with logos ...

Re: What do you guys ship your basses in?

which courier do you take for australia wide bass delivery and what can I expect for prices to ship one bass? I use smartsend.com.au, who are associated with Allied Couriers. Australia wide for a bass is $50 or less, door to door with signed delivery, and you can make the pickup booking online and ...

Re: What do you guys ship your basses in?

Depends. If the buyer wants the hard case then it ships in the case, with extra padding inside the case if the bass isn't a totally snug fit. I also put a layer of thin cardboard between the strings and fingerboard to prevent string gouging the board if it takes a hit. I then put the hard case in a ...

Re: Essential Albums for all serious Bass players...list em!

PS. You kids might not like the music of the Beatles or Elvis either, but without them there would never be Primus, Chilli Peppers, Jamiriquai, or any other artists that are currently on your iPod.

when it cuts to his plucking hand I'm disgusted - fingers flying everywhere! If only he conserved the motion, so much more energy would go into the string... You need to listen to the bass players on other music released in the early sixties. Other than Macartney and Jamerson the rest are all stuck...

Re: Hello, and question about routing etc

I don't think the top horn is phallic enough to compete in that category.

+1 on the piezo bridge too, no routing needed on your neck thru board that way.

Re: Essential Albums for all serious Bass players...list em!

Great Recordings for bass players are much more difficult in my opinion .... so keep em coming. I'm just perplexed by all the Jaco/Jamiroquai/Wooten/Flea suggestions so far as being "essential". Any allegedly "essential" list of recordings for "all serious bass players" without John Entwistle, Paul...

Re: I'm not a whinger, but............

The real dilemma with public toilets is opening the door after washing and drying your hands, given that many people who have recently taken a dump would not have washed their hands on the way out. In that case, the anti-bac handwash is a good option, AFTER you're out the door.

Re: Essential Albums for all serious Bass players...list em!

Jaco .... was the innovator of how the electric bass is played Jaco plays some tasty lines and certainly set the benchmark for fretless bass, but I think you have him confused with John Entwistle in terms of being "the innovator". Jaco didn't even appear on record until 1974, by which time Entwistl...

Re: Learning new music..

Easiest thing is to buy a Tascam mp3 trainer, which allows you to loop and change the tempo of particular sections of a song, so you can nail the bassline. Put the headphones on and you're all set to transfer any mp3 you want to work on over to the Tascam and play away.

Re: Bittersweet Just sold my EB Bongo

lol.......You'd get banned tor that at TB! Here you get a standing ovation. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!!!!!!!!! At TB you'd get banned for bagging a Warwick, but Bongos are apparently fair game over there. There was a poke-fun-at-Bongos thread over there a while ago, with no moderation at all, until I...
