Re: Drilling pilot holes in headstock

I replaced the tuners on my Yammy P Bass with Hipshot tuners. I just marked each hole, centre punched and then used a battery drill to drill the holes. I used painters tape on the drill bit to ensure I didn't drill too deep.

Re: Peavey Headliner 112 or Avatar SB112, ANyone have any experience with either?

I had a pretty extensive look around the Brisbane based guitar shops for cabs at the start of year and none of them had Peavey cabs. I was curious about the headliner range but even Talkbass doesn't have much info on them. I didn't think Avatar was sold on Australia so you may not get much answers h...

Re: Ebay Store Clearance

Sweet picked up some hipshot tuners. Chucked them on my Yammy P Bass and they are a massive improvement over the original tuners.

Re: Rechargeable pedal power

I think you could run one of these cables + rechargeable USB (Phone) power bank for cheap solution.

I love that Stingray prototype. There is a video of someone playing it on YouTube I found a few months ago.

I think I’ll try the first one, as nothing lights up either so I suspect it’s a power issue.

In the probe what is the capacitor doing?
Blocks any DC voltage from reaching the amp input.

Re: Testing an electrical circuit pointers

I would approach it 2 ways. One is follow the DC voltage from the battery - basically start at the battery and trace the circuit to see what the voltage is relative to ground. The other is to build an audio probe below and trace the audio signal from the preamp input. You should be able to touch the...

Re: Big Stingray changes by Ernie Ball

I am not a massive Stingray fan but it seems to me like the Classics have been the more popular model for the last few years. I think it's good that the updates bring a more modern take to the Stingray (and correcting some deficiencies with the previous model) while retaining the Classic for traditi...

Re: Help needed with the science of heat.

I would very much doubt there would be any damage due to heat transfer through the air (the thermal conductivity of metals are ~1000x that of air). I don't think the silicone would last in contact with a hot exhaust. I think your saddlebag maker is probably correct if you set up the bags with you on...

Re: Latest round of Allans Billy Hyde clearout?

No idea, I drove past the Brisbane store about 1 month ago and it had a sign saying it was closed. Unfortunately I am not surprised that they closed again, the Brisbane store was massive but had almost no stock (only really Gibson owned brands) and very unhelpful staff. My mate went in to buy a guit...

Re: Fancy Neck Woods?

If I was buying for myself the three necks I would be looking at are: 1) Roasted Maple 2) Wenge 3) Status Graphite Based on what you said I think roasted Maple would be the closest to what you want. I hadnt even looked at Roasted Maple to be honest! I assumed it was just a "Make it pretty" gimmick ...
