Re: Slowlearner's rolling cavalcade of luthiery horrors

This evening I was able to fire up the thicknesser and dust extractor for a few minutes to run these through. I'm pretty happy with them I have to say. https://i.imgur.com/pYiYbz3.jpg Wetted down the grain looks pretty good and the pinstripe of Tassie oak really highlights the combo. One came out at...

I may be in love... https://i.imgur.com/XFrk80Q.jpg Man, this thing is AWESOME. Had to sharpen some missing chunks out of the blade, but then. Oh the ribbons of glory! And another thing, why has it taken up to now to pick a neck timber that doesn't destroy my tools or chip out so easily? #fool :red ...

Hifi tone and IEMs - Is there are thing going on there?

On Thursday this week, spent the morning hanging with a fellow bassplayer and jamming, talking gear and generally chewing the fat. He made an interesting observation about the basses I've made, that being they're not Hifi. It came as a bit of a surprise, but lining my basses up against his Bart/EMG ...

This is the guitar I bought in the states... and yes the headless thing works well. Nothing to snap off if it falls over.

Slowlearner's rolling cavalcade of luthiery horrors

Up til now I've had multiple threads for builds etc, etc. But with everything going on at the mo, I'm going to roll everything into one terrible place for you all to frown and laugh at. I've got too much wood, too many ideas, too many broken guitars and not enough time to do everything (and a car pr...

"Take your left hand and stick it under your left buttock. Then just leave it there... forever." :D

Should be part of the AMEB syllabus. ;)

European cars - never again! This particular brand anyway, starting with B and ending in MW...... One small problem and a sensor picks up something from another sensor which is sniffing another sensor which activates an engine immobiliser, even if the problem is minor. To be fair it probably works ...

Re: Rant Thread !

the whole wiring loom on my mum's 1996 merc needs replacing as the plastic insulation has completely melted away. The car is not worth spending $3,000+ on. Body and interior are immaculate, sigh driven 40 year old Holdens and never had this problem I replied to the mechanic saying "it's 22 years ol...

Re: 74 Musicmaster bridge replacement

I gotta say, I know that bridge looks a little dicky, but it's miles ahead of the standard one in terms of adjustment and stability. If I were you I'd keep it for now and just keep your eye out for a musicmaster bridge.

Re: Pedalboard for amp-less gigs... GO!

I've just finished doing this very thing for my blues band where I play slide gt and bass (boss OC-3 on Poly). We're playing small gigs with no fold back though. Kinda different. One comment though, I figured out a while back that what a clean tube amp does is light compression as well as reverb oft...

Course you could benefit from more thirty something bored hipsters in trucker's caps hacking together terrible projects with expensive parts from famous sponsors, while snacking on energy drinks and breakfast burritos... and stickers, lots and lots of stickers...

Or not. ;)

Re: Rant Thread !

How's that a rant, Pete? ;) When I first started playing (many moons ago) I actually played a borrowed 73 (I think) Olympic White Jazz because I didn't have a bass. Bought an Ibanez RB924 as quickly as possible ;) . That's all I have to say about that topic. Apologies for spamming the Lutherie disc...
