Re: New P.A. What's hot what's not?

Sure is ... We were looking at the Soundcraft and the Behringer, but our keyboard player has more money than sense and splashed out before we could stop him!

Re: New P.A. What's hot what's not?

we just picked up an Allen & Heath SQ5 - nice, tidy, intuitive little desk. Steep learning curve after the analog yamaha desk we were using, but we're getting there! Very impressed with it so far. Didn't take long to get a good sound up and running, but still feel like we've only just scratched the ...

Re: Fender Starcaster bass

Yeah, the Fender has a centre block and hollow wings In terms of the model names, I think the Warwick Star is a descendent of the Framus Star basses (although the design looks more like the Guild than the old Framus) http://www.framus-vintage.de/modules/modells/modells.php?classID=6&typeID=47&cl=EN&...

Re: Fender Starcaster bass

Love mine - very comfy to play but it does weigh a bit. Balances nicely though, so with a wide strap you don't really notice the weight too much. No dramas playing it for a 4-set pub gig. Pickups are nice and fat, with plenty of output. Can get a good range of tones out of it, but I usually just run...

Re: Battery powered amp

I like my roland microcube, but yeah, volume outdoors isn't really its strong suit. Great little practice amp but. I have a friend with a Roland BA-330 portable PA that can run on batteries - very manageable size and weight and a bit more versatile than the bass cube, especially if you're going to b...

I've been using Setlist Helper ... it's free, and bluetooth compatible. Pretty sure it can do all the stuff you listed ... Worth checking out anyway.

Re: Decent gig bags?

Slight tangent here, but has anyone seen one of the new Ibanez double bags in person yet? (Ibanez IBB2621 PowerPad) They look pretty decent - seems to be two separate gig bags that zip together to form a double bag ... Pretty reasonable pricing too (US$99 on Amazon) https://www.amazon.com/Ibanez-IBB...

Re: Decent gig bags?

I've been very, very happy with my protec contego - lots of storage space, a good amount of padding all around, good straps, solid zips, etc. etc.

They seem pretty hard to find in Aus, but they're on Amazon for around $120 (may need to ship through shipito or something tho, depending on seller)

Re: Best Acoustic Bass Guitar Among These

I have an Ibanez AEB5, and it's fun for practising and messing about by myself - like others have said, acoustic basses don't have a lot of volume without an amp and will struggle to be heard when playing with others. The Ibby's playability is pretty good (although the action's quite high and the ne...

Re: NEW AMP TIME! Opinions wanted

Someone (not me) is selling an Orange OB1-500 in the classifieds ... Might be worth a look if you want something lighter and cheaper than a big-ass valve amp. He's got an AD200 and some orange speaker cabs for sale too ...

Re: Sansamp Fly Rig

Which of the Sansamp Character series is the Sansamp section based on? This is from the Tech21 rep on a talkbass thread: The SansAmp section of the Bass Fly Rig is the VT Bass circuit. The only difference is that the overall preamp gain is dialed back slightly. If you need more gain you use the Boo...

Re: Sansamp Fly Rig

I'm digging mine - using it mainly at practices and when we have a provided backline, but I carry it along as a back-up in case shit hits fan with main rig. Still using the main board at most gigs, just cos it's already all hooked up and things are a bit more tweakable than on the BFR. As said above...
