Decent selection of strings in Sydney?

Post by kat888 » 12 Aug 2018, 11:58

Is there any retailer (remaining) in Sydney with a decent selection of strings? I'm partial to Ken Smith Bass Burners but afaik these aren't sold at all in Australia. Usually order several sets at a time via Bass Strings Online but in this instance need a single set for an incoming bass which is strung with flats. Thought maybe I'd buy locally, It's unbelievable that a country of 25 million people can't seem to do better than overpriced D'Addarios.

Thanks @NotTheFish

Yeah, I used to be a Roto 66 girl until I discovered the Ken Smiths. The Rotos die too quickly.

Allans was local, but it's gone ... and they didn't have much. Downtown Music seems to have D'Addarios only. Global Vintage doesn't seem to list anything. IIRC selection at Guitar Setups was pretty ordinary. I'm not schlepping to Parra to visit the Guitar Factory.

I just want some decent bright-but-meaty-and-not-ganky nickel roundwounds. Not difficult is it?

Hang on a minute... what is incoming ???

Have a think, and let me know if you want to part with the flats. About time I tried some.
