Wirelessly powered magnetic pedalboard !

Post by BazzBass » 11 Aug 2018, 20:06

OK, a real game changer, maybe.

Magnetically powered pedalboard with a rechargeable battery. No zip ties or velcro.
Loud things: Markbass LittleMark 250, Hartke HA2500 amps, Hartke XL210 cabs
Pretty things: Fender MIA P, MIM P and J, SX J, Takamine ABG
Bands: Los Mescalitos , Distorted Tarts

I’d be curious about how much audio freq signal is being dumped on those pedals by the system.

Sorry, how exactly does it power the pedals?
* 2 Stingray 5's (one heavily modded), Ibanez SR805, Ashbory, + more...
* Carvin B1500, Epifani PS1000, Ashdown Superfly amps.
* Lots of DIY neo/lightweight cabs including one made from composites http://www.ozbassforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2546

It looks like the current is running the magnetised rails... the 'gravity boots' have a connector at the bottom for your lead to the pedals. Looks like the magnetised rail doubles as a power supply and means of securing the pedals.

Looks like you could do the same thing by using:
- daisy chain to each pedal
- 9v battery adapter
- 9v lithium battery
?? - depends how much power all the pedals use in an evening
If a standard 9v battery is not enough, then maybe rig up two in parallel?
If still not enough, then would have to make up a rechargeable block using 2 x 18650 or multiples thereof. Charger circuits are all on ebay.
The steel rails are just a replacement for the daisy chain.
I see..............basses!

Maybe there's the idea that you would be able to drop in and pull out pedals depending on the gig you were playing. I dunno... seems like a solution in search of a problem.

You could rig something up with a pedal juice/joyo or similar except for the rails and get 90% there for a fraction of the cost. The full setup is something like $700!

Warwick Rockboard LT rechargeable battery is $120
Slim enough to fit under a Pedaltrain Nano

Powers 4 pedals and a Relay G30 for around ten hours

Or that. No need to get rare earthy. Having said that I do despise velcro but I'm just not that invested in pedal boards. I could see it being really useful for someone who chops and changes a lot between regular gigs, but honestly those people have several boards made up, and at this price you would break even.
