NBD: Ibanez BTB1606

Post by DoctorJohn » 18 May 2018, 19:19

It's kinda hard to say no when something as beautiful as this is looking at you. It plays and sounds just as nice. Surprisingly light and the action is super low, with no buzzes anywhere.

Congrats - I am always amazed how Ibanez can offer something like this for the price they do. Great timbers, great craftsmanship, good hardware and electronics.

Enjoy!

Gorgeous. I love the Ibanez BTB series. The necks are so comfortable. Always get comments on the looks

I don't know why you don't see more players using them

How do you find the neck/neck thickness? Is this your first 6-string?

I actually had a BTB-676 before and it was a reasonably comfortable bass to play. The action wasn't as good as this one though. The 676 plugged in just sounded dull - i couldn't get a nice sound out of it. The 1606 has a much better pickup and preamp combination with a lot more tone shaping and sounds wonderful without mucking around with the knobs at all. The neck is slim and very fast. I actually have relatively small hands but find the 35" scale easy to navigate on the 1606.

For comparison, the neck thickness i reckon is actually thinner than my 5 string Warwick Streamer and that i thought was a thin fast neck. My Precision's neck is significantly fatter, not to mention heaver than the 1606.

As said above, pricewise, you really can't beat the Ibanez BTB i think. Not when you consider the timbers and the hardware they have plus the quality of the build overall.

Yeah....that's a great looking bass. Quite amazing value these. and I like the wider string spacing too.

2 strings too many, otherwise sweet as
