MK III Tight Arse
Hi Guys,
Yeah, I know, I've been away with the fairies lately and not answering your queries. I am sorry.
The good news is I've been working on the LPF and HPF powered circuit, the third design of the Tight Arse series, and have now got enough data to put together a prototype for Dave (aka Bobbybdazzler) to test.
Those that play stand-up / double bass will be happy as the input impedance will be 5 meg (possible 10 meg) to suit piezo pickups. Also, each filter will have 2 poles (slope of 40dB/decade (12dB/octave)), the same circuit as the "Tighter Arse" (MKII) but with a second order attached.
The difference between the MKIII Tight Arse and other similar products on the market will be the cost, country of origin and a boost/overdrive circuit.
Cheers
Heath

Re: MK III Tight Arse
Cool - will it have a feature where the frequency can be moved up or down for each filter? (Hope I've used the correct terminology here!!!).

Re: MK III Tight Arse
Yep, same as TA MkII.
I've gone sideways a bit with this design, hence the delay, sorry.
I'm now into playing 8 string guitars and have noticed a loss in punch when playing the 6th, 7th and 8th strings on all three 8 string guitars. The Death Metal 8 pole pickup design doesn't seem to lend itself well to my style of Heavy Rock switching into Country and then R'n'R/Blues/Jazz. So, I've started to redesign the Tight Arse into a pedal that can separate string frequencies and add boost/frequency change where necessary, also (at the same time) cutting out unwanted/unnecessary low frequencies and high frequencies. Not sure if this will be overboard for most players until I have a prototype in my hands.
I might be on the right track, though, as I went into a music shop in Toowoomba the other day to buy a parametric eq (to see if that would be an easy way to fix the problem) and the guy behind the counter said the same thing... the 8 string pickups all have the same problem. He did mention a new 8 pole design but personally, I'm not sure if it will be as revolutionary as they reckon.
As for ETA, I'll attempt to have a prototype by early next year... maybe.
Thanks Guys, for your patience and interest... AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!
Heath
