SOLD pending payment: Fender Jazz 1971 bass

Post by magicM » 09 Sep 2017, 10:41

Fender Jazz bass 1971. Authentic 1971 Jazz bass made in USA. Sunburst colour with great sounding original pickups. Attractive Rosewood fingerboard with Pearl block inlays and Tortoise pickguard. This is the classic combination. All electronics work perfectly as designed. Has both pickup covers included. Currently has a hipshot D tuner and the original tuning peg is included. The original tuning peg looks like it was broken and has had a bad welding job. This happened before I owned it.

It’s a great bass to play, sounds wonderful, is lightweight and balances beautifully. The neck is fast slim and easy to play. Hence the reason these are awesome instruments and collectors items now. Current strings on the bass are not great (GHS Brite flats) but this is easily changeable by the new owner. Strings were there for purpose of storing the bass.

Bass has been refretted by Frank Grubisa. He has also serviced the bass over the time I have had it. He is a fantastic luthier based in Sydney.

This has been a players bass so has cosmetic wear which does not affect the playability at all and gives the bass character. The body and neck have chips and dings that one would expect of a 47-year old electric bass that has been played for many years. I have included photos that show the cosmetic wear on the body and neck.

Also includes authentic Fender hardcase in very good condition. Locks close but no keys. The red velvet cushion inside is in great condition with no damage.

I play double bass predominantly for many years and have not played this bass for over 15 years. Wanting to clear gear that I do not use and I believe that it is important that an instrument of this vintage and calibre gets played…………so it’s time to pass it on.

In addition to the awesome playing instrument that it is, this is also a great investment for a musician, collector or investor as it is approaching the 50th anniversary in 2021.

Please ask any questions. I am a musician not a technician so I will try my best to answer technical questions. I can also send additional pictures if needed. If you are in Sydney you are welcome to pop by and have a play

Local pickup is preferred due to safety. I am willing to post for serious interstate buyers. In this situation buyer will have to cover all expenses associated with delivery – transport, packaging and insurance.

Hi There,
This might seem an odd question, but can you let me know the measurement from the bridge to the bridge pickup?
Want to see if it's a 60's or 70's bridge pickup position.
Thanks,
Tim

The body is definitely post 70, and clearly got born with that neck.
I love it. have you sold it yet?

Hi Boss302Bass. Bass is not sold yet. I assume you're saying that the body and the neck were made together. Thanks for the feedback. I bought this bass from Jonathan Zwartz a wonderful Sydney bassist but I don't know too much about its history.
