Ozbassers do indeed get mates rates at my shop.

Thanks Pete, interesting read. Good luck with the business, you got time for bass playing too?
Not much of a live scene here, but the few decent musos in this town now know I exist due to a few gigs I've done recently as a "fill in". Some potential for a cover band project next year. I didn't have time in 2017 but I'm also in the process of getting separated so once that's gone through, I'm hopeful 2018 can be more musical.

Hey Pete, thanks for sharing your story. I had wondered over the years what prompted your exodus from Sydney. Sorry to hear about the upcoming separation, and wishing you all the best with the next phase.
Cheers,
Tim

Wow, I was going to ask does it happen mid song?
Ohh yes, that used to happen all the time in the middle of a song. Playing live was a bit of a challenge to say the least. This condition comes on more with stress, and playing live can get that way sometimes.

There's treatment for it which I've been undergoing for 7 years now and that's working quite well. It's a long road though and I still get times when I really can't remember what just happened. Here's an example.. A few years ago I got bitten by a snake in the middle of the night, forgot about it and went back to bed. I woke up the next morning with a sore leg and wondered what happened. It took about 4 or 6 hours to piece together what happened. My doctor was not happy for obvious reasons. It seemed a bit of a set back. I thought I was doing better..

Just finishing breakfast and my back to base alarm monitoring people call this morning, the power has been cut to my alarm at my Ice Cream shop. A quick check of the security cameras shows they're not working. Holy shit, a blackout! I just had thousands of dollars of stock arrive yesterday, all freezers are full, and there's no power. I have a generator, but someone has to be there to start it and hook it all up, and I'm 40 mins drive away ...... No time for a shower, I'm out the door.

I have a staff member arriving for work soon, so I call her mobile. No answer. I call the shop landline number on the off chance she's in early. No power means no phone stoopid ..... I know I need to calm down, but I can't.

10 mins later my staff member calls me back. The shop has power. Phew! The stock it's fine so I'm wondering if maybe the security system had a problem.

5 mins later, I get another call. The landlords electrician tells me a faulty safety switch has been replaced.

"Did you have to cut the power at the mains to do that?"
"Yeah, why?"

He had no idea how many years he just took off my life!

Happy New Year! I'm going to start doing Yoga.

Well as much as I don't like giving people stern talkings to, I gave this guy quite a stern talking to! To his credit he acknowledged he should have let me know before cutting the power, and he has promised to communicate better in future.

I'm serious about the yoga. I have a yoga studio within walking distance of the shop as it turns out.

Reminds me of when I was renting a duplex & the water went off. I went outside and found that my neighbour had turned his water off to fix a washer and mine went off as well.
Both duplexes had meters but the way it was plumbed, all water went through both of them.
