Sounds like Liberals are backgrounding against Abbott. I wonder who is behind that. :rolf:

Interesting Hastie returned money on the QT. I wonder who the other Liberal MPs are.

Didn't Julie Bishop recently make a threat about people in glass houses?

Details of the $17 million purchase in March 2017 from the Tulla Pastoral Company at $1600 per megalitre in the Warrego River in southern Queensland were obtained by Senator Patrick in a Senate order for documents.
However, unlike another big buyback also signed last March - which delivered a $37 million windfall for ASX-listed Webster Ltd headed by Chris Corrigan for its Tandou property water rights - the government this time redacted the independent valuer's recommendation.
"Barnaby Joyce has some serious questions to answer," Senator Patrick told Fairfax Media. "He has authorised a water buyback at what appears to be more than twice the market price."
Concerns about the Warrego buyback also extend to how it avoided water cutbacks in the Borders Rivers, a more prosperous region spanning southern Queensland and northern NSW dominated by major irrigators.
Maryanne Slattery, a senior analyst with The Australia Institute who examined the documents, said Mr Joyce's support for the purchase of 10.611 billion litres of annual water rights from Tulla starkly contrasted to his opposition to a buyback in the Warrego River by the Rudd government in 2008.
Yes, Chris Corrigan of Patrick's Dispute infamy. Purely a coincidence. :rolf:

It's because they hold marriage in such high regard, that these other relationships don't qualify.

You think you've hit peak Barnaby, then something new spills out.

The Nat's have always had a taste for deeply crazy or stupid members, it's part of the tradition of keeping them off the farm where they could really hurt themselves. It's usually promoted as 'character' or 'being colourful'. I reckon Katter must be looking back at his former colleagues trying to figure out what a bloke has to do to stand out nowadays.

^ Sharri Markson, the reporter from the Telegraph who broke the Barnaby story, was on The Panel last night. She reckons Barnaby fired off because she is on Q&A tonight. She reckons he thought she was going to talk about the paternity issue. She reckons it wasn't on the agenda. She also disproved his claim that no one asked him about the paternity of the baby before running the story. She clearly did.

I know the number of consecutive losing Newpolls ceased to be an issue after Malcolm became PM, because Malcolm said so. Just out of interest, we are now at 28 consecutive losing Newpolls under Turnbull- 2 short of the number that prompted Malcolm to saddle up his white horse, rally the traitors and conspirators and "save" us from Tony. The two party preferred is entrenched at a landslide 53- 47 to Labor and Turnbull's personal lead over Shorten has collapsed to 2% over the last month. It had cleared out to 14% over the Xmas break (funny how Libs always do better when we don't hear from them).

Anyway, lucky for Malcolm the polls don't matter and no doubt we will hear today how the Tasmanian election is an indication of the people's undying support for the federal coalition, while the Qld election was purely fought on state issues. Or could it be this incessant "Kill Bill" strategy is backfiring?

Here's a Barnaby theory that actually makes a little sense.
Seems to me Vikki was part of the show on the weekend. First red flag. Don't forget- she is a highly paid media adviser by profession. Second red flag. Seems to me "they" are seeking to purposely throw doubt over the commencement date of their "relationship". Why might that be? Well, don't forget the investigation into alleged travel rorts is still proceeding, Third red flag.
Turnbull only cancelled the investigation into breaches of the ministerial code when Barnaby resigned from the Ministry. Hmmmmm.......I'll bet there is some really suss travel that might come into focus if the start date of the "relationship" is June rather than October/ November. I reckon this is designed to stop him getting kicked out of Parliament altogether for massive travel rorting. I won't get too upset on behalf of Vikki yet. Joyce can easily do a paternity test after the personal threat posed by the investigation is over.

At a press conference today, Mr Joyce told reporters asking about the weekend's reports that it was "nobody's business but mine and Vikki's".
"Anything that's personal in nature is nobody else's business but mine and Vikki's. So we're not here to be part of some ongoing litany of discussion about this," he said.

To which a female reporter asked "So why do you keep calling press conferences?"

In an unwelcome diversion from the critical issue of whether Barnaby is to actually be a new Dad or not, the Coalition has (without any tender process) provided $50,000 for 17 days work to a prominent Liberal supporter to conduct a secret review into the NAIF- which so far has spent nothing at all, but the Nats would like to find a way to use to give Adani a $Billion, without it further hurting the Government in the polls. The recipient of this largesse has excellent prior experience in this sort of area, being the author of the Coalition's Commission of Audit, which provided the bedrock upon which the fabulously well received first Abbott. Hockey Budget was built. His previous work lead to both those gentlemen losing their jobs. (You couldn't make this stuff up).

Regular Coalition scandals are so much less entertaining than the ones Barnaby has to offer.

This story would offer some explanation for Turnbull's abrupt change of direction on Joyce Thursday before last.

Turnbull may well lose his job out of all this.

What a load of nonsense. I am so over the Greens dishonesty on Adani's Carmichael proposal. We had it wall to wall up here in the Qld State election.
Also, is Malcolm really suggesting Shorten should overrule the existing LNP State approvals and the Liberal/ Nat federal approvals for the Carmichael proposal? Adani would love that. Free money to refinance their Abbott Point debt. None of the approvals were done by Labor BTW.
Is Di Natale suggesting a Greens win in Batman would stop Adani. :rolf:

The only way Adani will proceed is if someone is stupid enough to give them free money. Enter the Coalition. If they want the thing to go ahead they should give them the money out of the NAIF and then prepare for the backlash- cowards. The Greens probably want it to proceed so they have something to campaign against.

Shame this thing has become so politicised.
