Largely because the Nat Leader is often the Deputy PM and at times Acting PM. The PM has to elected by the House of Reps, so you don't typically get a Senator replacing them.
Except for now, when Senator Cormann is doing the job.
Also that wasn't the answer she gave when asked the question this morning- she chose to avoid the question.

I dunno bloke...she's not even sure where she lives and there are all these journos asking her questions and wanting to know her thoughts on sleeping with staff members and it's all a bit too much I guess.

I caught a few snippets of her interview and my thoughts were that McKenzie being an avid hunter and all, she should appreciate that she was doing a remarkable impression of a bunny in the spotlight.

It's a matter of public interest that he invited a Greek woman over to his place after she mentioned it was "that time of the month"
Greek woman ?

It was an AUSTRALIAN woman whose parents or grandparents emmigrated from Greece.

Come on man what year is this?

we still calling children who were born here foreigners just coz their surname isn't Smith?

you're better than that mate
Sorry, next time I'll correctly refer to her as a woman with a Greek surname.

That would have added to "good government", if he had won.
He would have taken the Nats out of the Coalition and we could have had an election. Big step forward.

I hope Barnaby sits near Abbott and Andrews.

Apart from the madness that is the super-merge in his home state. It would have been amusing, but I posit it would also have been unimaginable to actually happen, hence the snickering.

you still don't get it, why refer to the origin of her surname, what possible relevance does it hold. If it was Smith would you have said an Englishwoman, or a woman with an English sounding name?

You really couldn't make this stuff up.

https://www.buzzfeed.com/joshtaylor/the ... .ljkzQkkz1

BTW I am really pleased.
Looks like the Liberal's compulsory NBN Fraudband will bypass me and I will be allowed to stay on ADSL 2+ FWIW.

I have been told by Telstra they won't compel us people with only fixed wireless as an option to convert across. The guy across the road transferred to NBN Fraudband 12 months ago when the wireless cr@p became available and he get less speed out of it and less reliability than I do.

Hopefully that will also mean we will keep my old analog phone., which comes in really handy in blackouts.

Our new Deputy PM didn't like gays (I won't repeat what he wrote as the editor of a paper, but it was pretty bad) but has apparently changed his mind. He does that a bit. Now he wants to save the Murray- Darling Agreement, which he voted against. He wants to build on Barnaby's work by providing the big northern irigators with additional water from environmental flows, over and above what have been stealing, despite being the Member for Riverina..

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/sout ... f3?login=1

Oh, BTW he has income from an investment property he hasn't declared. No biggy- all the kids are doing it these days.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-02-27/m ... ns/9488162

I guess he didn't have much competition. Barnaby self destructed, with some help by way of a leak and a secret investigation from Malcolm (I'll bet that has their relationship just humming along and might just bite Malcolm in the future). Littleproud is rightly under attack about his business interests. Rent to buy in which an $1800 laptop costs $8000 (Pillar on society- just wonderful watching him defend it all in Parliament yesterday). Now why are the Libs/ Nats going slow on pay day lending.....? Canavan doesn't know what his nationality is and is hoping the Barnaby thing dies down. Several other Nats are under pecuniary interest clouds and my local Member will come unstuck when some details of his past as police officer come to light, should he ever fall (Stephen Bradbury- like) into a leadership position, as McCormack has. What a bunch of losers. Oh and Bridget McKenzie is well unsuitable for leadership of the Nats........ because she is a woman. And they all hate Darren Chester for being too normal.
