^ Whatever.
Steve Dickson (and Malcolm Roberts for that matter) is a politician no more. Good riddance.
Congratulations to the 86% of Queenslanders who see through the trash served up by One Nation.
What a bunch of amateurs, getting p!ssed in a garage at Buderim and being surprised when Dickson got beat- perhaps we have been taking them too seriously.
What a thumping for One Nation! Restores my faith.

I'll be honest, as happy as I am to see this, I'm also quite surprised. But when I drill into the figures for my electorate of Maryborough, it reveals why I've been hearing so much One Nation bullcrap - Labor won the seat comfortably with 45% of the vote (so far). In second place was One Nation! They may not win any seats but as long as they are still pulling votes like this, they're only one political decision away from a comeback unfortunately. So I can't go as far as to say "Restores my Faith".
* 2 Stingray 5's (one heavily modded), Ibanez SR805, Ashbory, + more...

Pete, without doubt ONP will not go away while Hanson and Ashby can make money out of politics and the LNP exists. I will be surprised if momentum doesn't gather for splitting the LNP into Libs and Nats again- so the Nats can "try and take on ONP".
I was talking about the primary vote of 14%- we were hearing predictions north of 20% and I think support did peak but dropped during the campaign as Labor applied the screws and asked people to have a good think before voting. I think Labor's decision to preference ONP last definitely saved some LNP bacon and cost ONP seats.
BTW Bruce Saunders is a very good local MP IMO- his vote doesn't surprise me at all.

Coalition are the better economic managers..... :rolf:

I have seen plenty of stats over the years, including OECD analyses, that actually show quite the opposite.
Here are some more that suggest we have slipped badly since Labor was last in power..

Peter FitzSimons is correct IMO but misses a big point.
Turnbull won't do what he should do because he needs her votes in the Senate and to ensure that happens he treats her like a Duchess. Idiot that she is, she falls for it.

Is FitzSimons right? Is there a $2B need to do this?
Why pull down the Sydney stadiums?
Is it for employment or to line the pockets of political donators?

No great surprise that the Government, desperate for any diversion from their own terminal mess, have piled all over Dastyari. He appears to have done something very suspicious or ill judged.
The allegations don't surprise me . I am not a Sam fan at all as a result of some interactions with him and actually wish Labor would get rid of him. I think he is a liability and will remain such. I am not convinced by him on anything much at all. I actually think the speech at odds with a major party policy should see him gone.
However, can we stop for a minute and have a look at the original complaint ie that he circumvented surveillance and warned a person of interest to our security community to do likewise.
Here are some very serious questions I would like answered by the Government to assure me that they have not again misused our agencies for partisan purposes.
How does anyone know this even happened? (Suggests the surveillance was actually occurring.)
Was one of our Opposition politicians really being surveilled? Is this normal? Are others being surveilled?
Which agency was doing the surveillance- who in government knew about it/ authorised it?
How did the information get to the media concerned?
Why has it broken right now? (This is all old information from last year)
What involvement has the Government had in the leaking of this?

This has the stink of partisan politics to it.
Why am I so cynical? We are still trying to get answers out of Cash about her "office's" leaks to the media- BTW another one of her staff has resigned. They are threatening to use their numbers in the House to refer political opponents to the High Court, while refusing to do anything about their own who have serious pecuniary interests issues.

This government has shown it will use our agencies against it's political opponents. We should all be concerned by that.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-11-29/s ... it/9208358

Oh and by the way, can we have a list of all the interactions between Government politicians and Liberal Party, National Party and LNP party officials and Mr Huang and similar to provide some balance. It is a very long list BTW.
A Four Corners-Fairfax investigation has discovered the two are property developers Huang Xiangmo and Dr Chau Chak Wing. Between them and their associated entities they have donated around $6.7 million to the Liberal, Labor and National Parties over a decade. Dr Chau is an Australian citizen. Mr Huang's citizenship application has been stalled by ASIO.

The secret briefings to the parties' administrative heads were delivered by ASIO's director general, Duncan Lewis, in 2015. But the Liberals and Labor continued to accept donations from the men or their associates — the Coalition taking $897,960 and Labor $200,000.

Turnbull and his crew will need to show more competence in pursuing Dastyari than they generally exhibit or this will backfire, like everything else they do, and claim some of their own. The figures show they are well and truly involved with Chinese political donations. "Julie Bishop Glorious Foundation" or Andrew Robb's amazingly "good fortune" are two obvious cases, but there will be more..

Just saw Shorten has demoted Dastyari.
http://www.skynews.com.au/news/top-stor ... ape_301117

Brandis setting himself up as the protector of ALP policy. :rolf:

As I said above, I think the Government has some serious questions to answer about this, but they won't.
This will resurrect the whole argument that broke down six months ago between the parties about which foreign money was OK and which wasn't.

Banking Royal Commission to go ahead?

Luckily Australians can't remember what Turnbull said yesterday, as they stopped listening to him months ago and the banks will determine the terms of reference.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-11-30/b ... er/9209926

I wonder whether the ABC has jumped the gun- let's see what Turnbull actually announces.
